A few months ago a friend at work gave me this chicken who at the time was about two months old and told me she was a Golden Campine. The pictures Ive seen of chickens similar to her make me think she is a Rode Island Red. Can anyone help me in identifying this breed? Thanks.[IMG]

I think she may be a Red sex link. She is not a RIR nor is she a Campine. She may be a mutt. She has the hind end of a RIR and the front end of a ???

Maybe someone else may have more info.

I will say she is a very beautiful bird.

I think she has red earlobes. Welsummer, if she's a good sized girl. The eggs will tell.

I honestly do not think she's a Brown Leghorn-her earlobes would be white. If white, yes, but if reddish, she looks like a Welsummer, like my Alma here:

Yeah, I was posting mine while you were and didn't even notice her earlobes.......wow they certainly look similar. But, as you said, the eggs will be a definite indication. [IMG]

A Welsummer? I never would of guessed. She is laying small brown eggs right now. I think its her. I thought the Barred Rocks were laying but Im only getting one every other day so far. Right now the count is four. I think she's very pretty too. Very talkative! You can hear her clear up to the house. [IMG] Thanks all for your help!! [IMG]
