I bought 6 straight run chicks from tractor supply about 4 weeks ago. They were labeled as red rangers and I was told that they were a cross between golden comet and another breed that they couldn't remember. I was told that they were egg laying chickens. There was another batch of chicks labeled as red ranger broilers separate from the "red Rangers" that I purchased. Anyone familiar with this breed?

To the best of my knowledge, and hopefully I am wrong, Red Rangers are meat birds.

I'm with Sour, the only Rangers I know are meat birds. Could they have meant Production Reds? They're not descended from Comets per se, but they're generic Red birds that are wonderful little layers.
