I am a new chcken owner in North Carolina. I have three golden comets. One started laying at 16 weeks (1-16). The other two have not laid their first egg yet and are 24 weeks. I don't understand how there can be such a difference when they are all living under the same conditions. Do I have a problem?

Sounds like the others are just waiting for the daylight hours to increase. You can let them relax this first winter and give them time to start laying (usually around the first day of spring or when there are 14 hours in the day), or you can put a light in the coop to extend the day to have 14 hours now. Some chickens are just early bloomers while others take a little extra time.

Thanks. I've been trying o be patient, but being so new to this I wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something.
