    Hi all,

Long time lurker first time poster. I started hearing a low crowing from the backyard and have been trying to pinpoint who is doing it. The chicks are about 3 months old and were all bought at the same time. Two golden sex linked and one silver laced Wyandotte. The pic below is one of the sex linked which looks like a roo to me. What do you guys think?

    Thanks in advance,
    Michmcg

Yep, you have a male redsexlink. They are called sexlinks because males and females are different colors, even at hatch.

Thank you! Apparently the people that sell them didn't understand what the females vs males should look like and they told me all of the golden ones were 'golden sex linked'...ugh

Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends [IMG]

Actually "surprise" roosters happen much too often. Sometimes the giver/seller knows all to well they are cockerels. [IMG]

Glad you joined us! I agree with the others, that is definitely a cockerel. Were they supposed to be sexed?
