I have a bunch of shipped eggs hatching. I candled and of the breeds not too dark to see into at this point (BCM and Olive Eggers) I have 40 out of 54 eggs developing with obvious veining. Some of these do still have detached air cells though.

Any ideas what to expect as to what percentage might stop developing between now and lock down?

My last hatch was shipped also and turned out terrible. Only 8/18 eggs even began developing and out of those we got 5 that made it into lock down and 2 chicks in the end (and two that pipped and didn't make it).

I'm hoping for better luck this time, and so far it is looking better!

There are a lot of variables that come into play. Steady temp, no hot spots, good turning, right humidity, health of the parent birds... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. All you can do is make everything as good as you can and hope for the best.

What day are you? I am anxious about candling but I just set on Saturday. Dry incubation and the temperature is staying very steady. I am so happy for you!
Did you get them all from the same person?

I figured as much - I just wish it was easy to say that since things look good now that there's a good chance the hatch rate will be decent. Half are in a Hovabator genesis with turner, the other half are in a borrowed still air LG, in egg cartons and tilting the whole bator.

I didn't do a dry incubation last time, but am this time. I also let them rest longer before setting and then after setting before starting turning. I FEEL like it is going well this time and can just hope my intuition is tuned in correctly.

Day 5. But I wasn't planning to candle till day 7. I was just curious if I could make anything out in a leghorn egg, and when it showed up so clear I couldn't help my curiosity about the rest. I think I won't candle again until day 18 if I can hold out (except to try the madams again next week)

They are pretty much all from different sellers/breeders. Last time I had three different breeds but all from the same seller. Too many eggs in one basket I guess. So this time I diversified the origins hoping for better chances.
