I'm at a loss as to what I should give my chickens to lay in. They already have one place, an old clothesdryer:

But it's not enough as the chickens all want to lay at the same time. I was using temporary cardboard boxes but we had heavy rain last night, some water got in and they are now completely ruined. So what does everyone use as *makeshift* nesting boxes? I'm curious and need a bit of help so please post your thoughts (pictures would be appreciated please!!).

The large, covered kitty litter boxes are the favorites in my flock. Handy because it can be picked up by the handle if you get a broody hen setting on eggs in one. Then you can move it to a secluded, safe place for her to hatch her eggs without other hens adding theirs to her clutch. Then raise her chicks in safety, too.

Buckets on their sides, screed to the coop wall also work well. Cut half the lid off, put it back on so it serves as a barrier so eggs don't roll out...
