good layers

    hi,

    does anyone know are orpingtons, good layers.
    i am eagerly waiting for mine to hatch

    They are pretty decent. The breed wasn't developed for a lot of eggs like the Leghorns, but they do lay nicely through winters.

    Our Orpington does OK - not nearly as well as the RSL, though.

    thanks sounds good.

    I have ! dog, 2 cats,1 tortoise, and a parrot as well as 6 orpingtons waiting to hatch 19 days and counting.[​IMG]

    Yes it is my first attempt. I went to a country show yesterday, and got 3 Buff Orpington and 3 Blue Orpington hatching eggs.
