Goodbye, My Sweet Oreo

[Chickaroo!]

Today, at 1:00pm I found my sweet Oreo laying on her side in her run, dead.

This is the first time I've ever had chickens and the my first experience with one passing. I don't know what happened. I let all of them out this moring and she was the first one out of the coop. Her comb & wattles were just a red as could be. I examied her some when I found her and I don't see any signs of an attack, nothing lodged in her mouth. Yesterday, she even laid an egg.
I will miss seeing her run accross the chicken run everytime she heard me come out of the house. She waddled when she ran. She was always the most "talkative".

Sorry you lost her. Sometimes that's what they do. Just up and die. You can have a necropsy done to see if she was ill or something. Everyone else OK? Again sorry for your loss.

she's in the great scratch bag in the sky now.she lived a good life,so much better than if her soul hatched as a chick destined for egg battery.
