Gosh !! the hatcheries dont have much of a selection!

after scouring the the web it seems like the hatcheries dont have hardly any type of selection this time of year,, I figured this is when people get them ,,, that way they start to lay in the spring? one hatchery only had like 4 or 5 breeds available at this time
 
Even for hatcheries they have to allow for hens to slow down laying in the summer heat and molting time so they are not able to hatch as many chicks this time of year. In some areas it is already getting pretty chilly at night so shipping is down and you have to allow that most folks do not want to raise chicks through the winter.
I, personally, have ordered chicks in November to have at POL for spring but hated the use of heat lamps through the winter. After several winters of raising my own chicks I am taking this winter off. It is a lot more difficult to raise chicks in the winter for almost everyone so I can see it.
