I hatched a gosling!! [IMG] It is still laying in the bator trying to recoup from its ordeal, but it is out of the egg!! [IMG]

Unfortunately, it will be the only one. The other egg made it as far as to pip into the air cell and died [IMG]

    **Anyone know why this happens?**

This is an american blue gosling, from vicki2x2's eggs. She sent 2 eggs, and both developed all the way to the end!

I guess I'll have to see if a friend has some day-old babies for a buddy!

Cuteness overload! But they grow up so fast! I hope it is as sweet as the one I hatched 3 months ago!

This poor baby is so sweet, I just want to hold it all the time! Every time I go in the 'nursery' to check on the chicken chicks hatching, it will hear me and start making this trilling sound. Poor baby!! I never knew how loving baby geese were until a few weeks ago. I had gotten an order from metzer farms that I was supposed to be in on. In the end I was not able to fulfill my end of the bargain, but the baby geese stayed at my house for about a week. I didn't want to let them go!! [IMG] It was so odd to have a baby bird that actually wanted you to mess with it! But this little one is a keeper, I've already made plans to order some more American Blues from holderreads in a week or so [IMG]

Nester was just like that. He used to crawl up in the hood of my hoodie and sleep there and loved to be carried around. I think they imprint on you and look to you as Momma. If Nester even heard my voice he would call me from the brooder. He is a big boy now and lives with the ducks, but I can still pick him up, pet him and love on him!
