got a bag of basamit rice,oats red and yellow split lentils

    on clearance seversl 8 ozx bags.. for 25 cents a bag...Full circle brand....Do I need to cook it...??? Bag says "precooked" ready in 10 minutes.. Do I really need to cook for 10 minutes???
    I know they love cooked rice I make brown rice and black rice combined a little give them once in a while they prob love it heated though on a cold day..

    I would cook it just so nothing swells up in the chickens crop. Not sure it would but not wanting to take that chance.

    Good bargain you found.

    You can feed it as is, Rice, Oats and Lentils can be feed raw (un-cooked).

    This might be a dumb question, but I've heard feeding raw rice to birds is dangerous because it can swell in their crops. Is that true for chickens as well? Or do they not have a problem with it?

    The story about uncooked rice swelling in birds and killing them is a wives tail.

    The racing pigeon grain mix that I've using as part of my premium scratch grain contains rice and never had a problem one.
