So I have 5 different breeds 3 hens with 1 rooster of each breed as of now they are 3 months old and are all in same coop I was wondering what is a good size for a chicken tractor that will only have 4 chickens I'm on a tight budget but can prob make 5 small tractors. So anyone no what a good size is????

2X10 or 3X8 will work for 4 big birds. A tractor is intend to be moved, usually every day so this size would work just fine. PVC works great but so does small lumber.

Wish ya the best.

Instead of building multiple smaller tractors, why not just have one or two larger runs? It's possible everyone could get along in one flock, although you are a bit rooster heavy. You could always have a hen flock and a bachelor pad, with a breeding pen for pulling out specific birds you want to incubate from.

For keeping four large fowl birds, you're going to want a minimum of 40 square feet, per tractor if you have one for each breed. Even at that, you'll need to keep a close eye on your birds for signs of overcrowding, and the hens for being overmated.

If you are going to use tractors you do not need 10 sf per bird. If you meant to keep them in a coop permanently then 10 sf per bird or more is better. I use tractors myself. Some chickens can get by with 2 sf a bird and some need 4. You'll figure it out.

Wish ya the best.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with this. Moving the birds to a different area each day may have some impact on how they get along, but four birds in 20 square feet leaves no room for a submissive bird to get away from an aggressive dominant bird. Doesn't matter if the ground is fresh grass or hard packed dirt.

Thanks the purpose for tractors instead of one coop is to help keep my pasture down till we can afford to 're do the fence to keep goats and. Long run cattle we are trying . To start a small farm
