I hatched a baby chick out of my olive egger hen & BLRW Roo to see what I would get . Both parents have clean legs but the baby has feathered legs !! Why would this be ? Here is a pic of the baby! The mama hen is a buff color [IMG]

Is it actually growing or just pressed against it?

Must have some feathered legs somewhere in the history of the parents.

Yeah, Easter Eggers are various mixes so I guess somewhere in her lineage there was a feathered legged chicken.

It's that crazy toss of the genes when you have mixes on one side...you just never know what might pop up.

    Makes life interesting.

My guess would be your OE hen was created by using a Marans(feathered legs) Your hen didn't get the feathers but carries the gene. JMO.
