    Why do they call lockdown ,,, lockdown ,,, With no window in the door of this old 1200 ,, I'm going to look ,, moved eggs down to bottom Thurs , AM they were supposed to hatch Sun ,, looked while ago and counted 5 already out and a lot more pips , have 36 jersy giants and 8 silkie eggs in there ,

    As in prison, nobody goes in or out during "lock down." That's when you are supposed to keep the incubator closed and NOT OPEN IT until the eggs have hatched. Every opening lowers humidity, and humidity is critical at the hatching stage - the membrane can so easily dry out and "shrink wrap" a hatchling.
