ok, the boyfriend and i went in on tuesday since we both had off... we got:
2 barred rock pullets
2 production red pullets
1 easter egger pullet and
1 buff orpington pullet

today while i was working we got over 1300 cornish cross chicks and over 400 assorted breeds of pullets, lets just say i went a little overboard and came home with
1 silver laced wyandotte pullet
2 barred rock pullets
1 mystery chick... she was in with the silver laced wyandottes and doesnt look like anything we have in our brooders at work... even the guys that are specifically working with the chicks cant figure out her breed cuz of the coloring...

question: is there a difference between a rhode island red and a production red?..

monday i get first pick of the easter egger pullets

any help with the RIR question would help a bunch

thanks!!!!

Congrats on your new fuzzy butts.
Yes, there is a difference in RIRs and production reds. Production reds are also sometimes called red stars. They are bred for heavy production.
Ideal's website lists their production reds as: "Crosses utilizing Rhode Island Reds and New Hampshire Reds were used in the development of this breed"

i cant wait to go back to work on monday. we have another order of chickies coming in and my coworker said i could have first choice of an easter egger pullet since im only getting one! yay. im so excited!
