Got My First Emu EGG TODAY !!!!! Pic PG. 1

    I wasn't even looking and I almost stepped on it while feeding up! Doodlebug plopped it out right by the water trough, must not have been too long before I found it, as I had just filled it up. Obviously she doesn't know she is suppose to lay it in a nest, or Merlin doesn't know he's suppose to make one. [​IMG] It's a pretty green jade color.


    Emu next to a Silkie egg for comparison.....

    Congrats on your first egg... I remember being way too goofy over getting our first one... ant it was chicken!

    congrats! now where the heck is that photo?????? think it is fertile??? going to incubate it???

    I may fire up the Hova bator and give it a shot since I've had people ask about buying some. If it doesn't I can always blow it out and carve it.... plus she should be laying more over the season.

    They've been breeding a lot, so I think it should be.... but who knows... Emu are complicated simple creatures..... [​IMG]

    That is so exciting! I love the color.
    My dad had a emu wandering around his yard for years...It never occurred to any of us to look for eggs. It could have been male...We never knew where it came from. It just showed up one day . If you feed them they hang around for some reason.... [​IMG]
    It made that strange humming, vibrating percussion; That was always cool.
