The more "stuff" in your coop/run, the more poop-y surfaces to clean!! We took the ramp off to pressure wash it, and the next thing we knew, the hens were just fly-hopping right up and right inside.

No more poop cleaning on that ramp! It never gets cold enough here to worry about, so until we have chicks again, it's history!! YAYYYY!!!

My chicks are 14, 16, and 18 weeks now - It's Sept 1st. Do you think the 2 older ones (Buff Orp and RIR) will start laying soon?

Interesting. Our pop door is going to be about 8 or 9 inches above the floor to allow for litter depth. I had planned to put a ramp outside (it will be 18 or 19 inches from the ground after we account for the runners, floor joists and floor) but maybe won't have to? Or is 18-19 inches too high for them to jump? I wasn't planning on anything on the inside. I figure 8 or 9" minus the litter would be fine.

Mine jump quite well. Right into the pop door on the small coop at least 34 in high and in the big coop the roosts are at 33 in no problem.
