I found this egg in one of our boxes. I know with 100% it’s a freshly laid egg, but I’ve never seen this before. Neither has my bf. The egg felt very light and when cracked open, revealed a dried up crystalized-looking brown substance. There was no smell. Does anyone know what could ha e caused this?

That is an odd one. Weird ones can happen occasionally. One of our Orpingtons laid a very strange egg awhile ago and I thought for sure it was what's know as a 'lash egg' but she was absolutely fine and was back to laying normally the next day.

Stress can cause havoc with the system and it can be something you don't even realise is happening like a strange noise in the night just as an egg is at a certain point of forming. Or it can be a bit of tissue that's come off inside them that then gets processed in the same way a yolk would.
