grasshoppers ok for a snack?

This is probably duck 101 but I'm going to ask anyway. Is it ok for ducks to eat grasshoppers? And if so, should I pull the legs off of them first? We gave our duck a couple of small ones the other day and she gobbled them up but we also have great big ones in the yard as well.

Grasshoppers are good stuff, don't need any preparation

ha, I JUST fed one to my ducks, gone in a quick dive and shake of the head, they LOOOOVE them, though I don't plan on giving them an excess of greasy bugs when they are laying...that could taste bad.

I wouldn't do anything to the grasshoppers. Let the ducks out and let the catch them themselves, they'll figure it out. Mine catch flies out of mid-air. It's great excercise for them, and fun for you to watch.
