I have been devouring the BYC articles and threads for a few weeks now time to join!

A year ago my family bought a rural property in Paraguay and with came chickens, coop, runs and 2 fenced free range paddocks of about an acre or more each. The existing hens and rooster have been teaching how to do things the way they are used to! I've let a couple of broody hens raise chicks (learnt about hawks, getting eggs mixed up and separation gates being left open to main coop so lost a few babies).

Now I am slowly expanding the flock to have layers, meat birds and turkeys in separate areas, some with alternative free range days among a couple of cows and donkeys (also inherited!). The information from this forum is invaluable as I have language limitations and simply cannot buy a lot of stuff recommended eg limited options for feed and no ACV.

I have also learnt I suffer from chicken math but that is partially controlled by the extra work it I find creates for me!

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Chicken math seems to be prevalent around the globe. Luckily you have a lot of land to play with.

G’Day from down under MasAhora [IMG] Welcome!

I hope you enjoy BYC; not only is it overflowing with lots of useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures about chickens, turkeys, duck, quail, Peas and pretty much any other feathered and non feathered friends [IMG]
