Green Stuff??????

i was at my feed store yeterday looking at the baby chicks and they all had these plates of green crystal-ly looking stuff in the cages. I looked at picutres of baby chicks on here too and they had the green crystal stuff too!!!!! am i missing out on something important??

It's Gro gel - some people use it when shipping chicks. I don't use it in my brooder.
