Hello all, we are new poultry owners in Texas. We have recently "adopted" a flock from a local rescue that had been seized in a cruelty case. So far we have 8 chickens, 5 guinea fowl, a pair of silver pheasants, three ducks, and 12 ring neck dove. We have two large walk in enclosed coops. One is 15 feet wide, 40 feet long and 8 foot tall. With seperate nesting boxes and a seperate partitioned area for roosting. The other is 10 feet wide, 15 feet long and 8 feet tall. Both are solidly built These coops were built by the previous land owners and needed quite a bit of repair before they could be used. There are more chickens coming but they are being treated for mites and internal parasites before being brought out to the property. We have joined here because we have a little basic husbandry knowledge concerning fowl but not enough. We are looking forward to learning about and enjoying our new animals, and becoming a part of this community.

Have a look round the site, you will see blue "sticky" threads on top in each section. Those are very handy and informative threads on everything from hatching eggs to vaccinations (in the emergencies and injuries section). Good luck with your rescues and post some pics for us sometime so we can meet them!
