Hello chicken people. I have been trying to have a flock of chickens for 3 years with no success until now. With my faithful Maremma that I got last year, perhaps now, I'll get this chicken party started! :)

My flock is mature now. I have 2 white, 2 buff, and 1 blue silkie hens, a buff rooster, and a white cochin frizzle rooster. I want crosses and a huge flock so I guess it begins here. I'm getting eggs from the coop now and I cracked 2 for fertility and they are fertile. So...I have a million questions, of course. I best get reading because I really have no clue what to do next. ;)

Welcome to BYC. Start saving those eggs - your silky hens will help with the flock increase.

If your silkies go broody you will be able to forego incubating and hatching worries.
