I found this site while researching homemade incubators. My daughter is a high school freshman this year and she has
joined FFA, and is also in her 3rd year with 4-H. Her first FFA project is to build an incubator and hatch 3 different sets
of eggs turning each set of eggs at different intervals to determine which turning schedule yields the healthiest chicks.
After many hours of surfing the interweb, I have found this site to be the most informative. I will probably be asking many
questions in our quest to complete this project. If all goes well, we are hoping to raise a few chickens of our own since
our city is considering letting us have 3 hens in a coop. I would like to thank everyone in advance for sharing any information
    or advise.

    Thank You!
    Doug

Hi Doug and a very warm welcome to BYC. Everyone here is here to help and learn from one another, so feel free to ask away. I would suggest however that you consult the Learning Centre and search for threads on any subject matter as they will help.

    All the best

I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome. I have spent many hours in the Learning Center and have found the
answers to many of my questions. I have a feeling that my daughters FFA project is just the tip of the iceberg. The more I learn, the greater the desire I have to raise chickens as a hobby and as a source of fresh eggs. I guess this is just the start of the madness.
Thanks again for the wonderful resource.

    Hi Doug, [IMG]

Sounds like you're having fun! Raising chickens is a great hobby for the entire family. Good luck to your DD with her hatch, FFA and 4-H!
