Now that we are retired, Im starting back into Chickens! How I've missed them! Our flock of Heritage Chicks are 3 weeks old today. Hubby is building the Chicken Nipple Water system. Does anyone know how high off the ground they are supposed to be? Thanks!!

I just put mine in this weekend. I installed them so the nipples are 18 inches off the ground, it seems high but where I've read they should be. I also suppose the breed of chicken might effect the height as well. I have my first chickens showing up next weekend and they will only be 5 weeks old so I figure I'll use some bricks to raise "the level of the ground" until they are full grown.

Again I don't actually have chickens yet so I can't fully verify that 18 inches is correct, its just what I did.
