Our family is just starting our homestead adventure. We are looking forward to learning about how to raise chickens in Northwest Florida. We have several acres so we plan to build a chicken tractor. Any and all advice is welcome.....coop designs, breeds, etc.
    Thanks!

[IMG] It's all here for you, try the coop section, etc. You might do best if you visit the Learning Center and branch out from there.

Welcome to BYC [IMG] You've come to the right place to learn about chickens! Here are some sections for you to look at to get you started:

First of all, have a look through the Learning centre: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Have a look here for coop and brooder (chick housing) designs:

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops

Have you picked breeds yet? Breed reviews and discussions are over here:

https://www.backyardchickens.com/products/category/chicken-breeds (and yes, you can keep different breeds together [IMG])

    http://www.ithaca.edu/staff/jhenderson/chooks/chooks.html

And finally, for some frequently asked questions and links to answers have a look here:

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/204/backyardchickens-forum-faq#post_1198 (post #2)

As you move around the forum you will also see "sticky threads" in blue above the regular threads. Those are also well worth a read. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. We'll be happy to assist. Enjoy the site and keep us posted!
