Training livestock guardian dogs sounds like a really unique and fun job! Do you have any chickens or other poultry?

What breed is the dog in your avatar? Picture is tiny but, looks sorta like a mastiff muzzle.

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad to have you onboard1

If you check out the Learning Centre, you'll find a whole host of resources on all things chicken.

Your state thread is worth joining as you will get to know other BYC members in your area (https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread). In fact, the search box should become your best friend [IMG] Lastly but by no means least, the members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

    All the best

That's an awesome looking dog in your avatar! Don't pay any attention to CTKen's donkey comment...he's probably enjoying his sundown sipper about now, lol.

LOL he is about the size of a mini donkey [IMG] !
I just posted another thread about my chicken flock "experience" being shut down due to massive Starling invasion.
Wanting to get some hens again. I have had great success with my dogs guarding my flock of 50 or so layers when they
were here. I see others on this board have had similar success with LGDs guarding their flocks from predators.
That makes me happy! Unfortunately the dogs had no impact on the Starlings. But they do chase off ravens, crows
and hawks. But I like the hawks to be around to get the Starlingsā€¦.Catch 22 of sorts!
