i am new to the back yard chicken, and loving it! i have 2 barred rocks, petunia and violet. recently lost daisy to an evil but hungry hawk. i will be getting some more in the spring. thinking of silkies, although i really love my friendly barred rocks. they are hunkered down right now with the big nor'easter blowing around.

[IMG] Mine are too and will not come out of the coop. It's the first time mine have ever seen snow. We don't usually get any here.

Barred Rocks are a great breed. [IMG] But if you want broodies, I've heard Silkies are the way to go.
