I stumbled across this series when I ran out of things to read last winter. This one I listened to on audio. If you have never listened to an audio book, you have no idea what you are missing!

The story really uses your imagination. Just imagine giant rats, giant cockroaches, giant bats... that talk. And people that have lived underground for centuries!

    Gregor the Overlander
    by Suzanne Collins

When Gregor falls through a grate in the laundry room of his apartment building, he hurtles into the dark Underland, where spiders, rats, cockroaches coexist uneasily with humans. This world is on the brink of war, and Gregor's arrival is no accident. A prophecy foretells that Gregor has a role to play in the Underland's uncertain future. Gregor wants no part of it -- until he realizes it's the only way to solve the mystery of his father's disappearance. Reluctantly, Gregor embarks on a dangerous adventure that will change both him and the Underland forever.

That is a very good series. We have an audio center in class and the students really enjoy audio books. I got another teacher hooked on Paperback swap because they have audio books too and she listens to them in her car on her drive to and from work.

Most welcome, I try to spread the word about that site because at the price of books and especially audio books it can be hard to have quality reading material. This way it only costs you the postage to mail a book for the credit to order a book. I'd much rather pay from $1.41 to $2.23 for a $8.00 book!
