Grit for my 8 week old girls

Should I be giving my dozen girls grit in their food? I read it's good to help them break down the food they consume.

I've been feeding them just starter crumbles & veggie scraps from our kitchen.

I wouldn't put it in their food but you can offer it free choice so they can partake of it as they see fit. And they will if they need it, they won't if they don't.
