I put a dish in with my 3 wk and 6 wk olds so the can dust-bathe however the younger ones tend to eat more than they bathe in it, same with a few of the older girls. Still a newbie to this so just curious, is this bad in anyway???

I think if they eat it then they must need it. Is the dish filled with sand/dirt or actual grit or is it a little of both?

I just use dirt from outside that I have use a sifter on to get out the real big chunks or rocks.

They'll eat more dirt than they will the little rock grit. It shouldn't hurt them, especially if they enjoy the dust bath.
