Ok, we really love popcorn. White popcorn to be specific.
Being that we have more time than money, we thought we would try to grow our own. So before we bought the seeds we tried to grow some from the bag from the grocery store.
I put it in a ziploc bag with a damp papertowel and the sprouted! Guess what we will be planting in the garden this spring? Yippee free seeds! Who knew? Just thought I'd share! [IMG]

Quote:Yes, you dry it on the cob, pull back the husk and hang up by the husk, until it is the right moisture content (DH's job) then remove it from the cob and store in air tight containers.

My grandmother always grew her own popcorn. The cobs were kind of smallish and the kernels were red. She grew a lot of different things.

Quote:My hubby's grandpa used to grow it too. Thats why we thought it would be fun. That and we eat a ton of it!

Oooh! I am hoping to grow some popcorn this year, too! I have never grown it before, but I can't wait to try it! I make a lot of popcorn - mostly my own kettle corn, so I thought it would be worthwhile. [IMG]
