I have a 1 year old BCM hen that I have just noticed has multiple growths on her feet. Both feet are affected and theses growths are causing her toes to be distorted. The underside of her feet look normal, all the growths are on the top/sides. She does not seem to be affected, she's running around normally, eating normally and pooping normally. I don't know if she is roosting at night. I haven't noticed anything in my other birds yet, but I intend to go out today and check all their feet.

Those lumps remind me of insect galls.

I have never seen such a thing on chicken feet. They don't appear to be bumblefoot lesions. While not your ordinary presentation of scaly leg mites, they could be that or something similar.

If they are a result of insect eggs, they could respond to oil treatment. It won't hurt to try it. I like castor oil because it's so viscous. I pour it in a small cup and dip the entire foot in it, working the oil well into all the cracks. It's messy, but it will eventually wear off.

If it appears to reduce the swelling, I would repeat it in five days, and again in another five days.

If the bumps remain unchanged, it could be what @Wyorp Rock has suggested.

Here's a bit of info on feather cysts. http://www.poultrydvm.com/condition/feather-follicle-cysts.

I've dealt with ingrown feathers, and was able to make a small incision across the lesion to release the feather follicle. Then I squeezed out any fluid and painted Blu-kote on it. You can also use Vetericyn after the surgery.

If you have the luxury of a vet, that would be the best way to go if you aren't inclined to cut on your chicken's feet.

Interesting!

I have done Bumblefoot surgery successfully so I can likely give it a whirl.
