Grrrrr.......

I've been covering some extra shifts at work, we have several people out with injuries, totally not work related, but it's still effecting all of us. I'm scheduled to work 101 hrs between last week and this week. I originally scheduled my time around 2 expected hatches, but that is now not going to happen. I worked 2-12 hrs shifts, yesterday and today and still got one to do tomorrow, plus 6-8 hrs coming, add 2 hrs travel per day and I'm gone a minimum 14 hrs a day. So what happens then, of course I had to fiddled with the temps this morning, they were low. Only to come home to find them both at 102*. Probalby for the last 12-14 hrs 12 Light Brahmas went into lock down tonight, another 20, 6 dorking and 14 LB's go into LD on Tuesday and I still have eggs that will go into lock down on the 20th. PLEASE, Please, please cross your fingers I've not cooked my babies!!! It seems to late in the game to have screwed up so big, shame on me............

Oh that stinks! It's not your fault. I hope they are just fine and they'll hatch for you!

I've had eggs that got too warm at 102 and they were ok!

Fatal bator temps are 103 in forced air, 107 in still air, so you should probably be fine!

Thanks all, I'm crossing my fingers and after today I'll be cross eyed with exhaustion, lol.... We will know in jus ta few days, however lock down seems to make those 3 days feel like a month!! And I'm off to start another day. Hope you all have a great day!!!!

OMW, what a horrible day! So as of right now 9 of the 12 hatched. I moved 6 of the driest ones to the brooder and left 3 in the bator. They were all doing fine. My neighbor came to see them and then we went out to the barn to see my 10 day old chicks. Well neighbor didn't know to close the door and my dogs (labs) killed the 6 chicks. I'm so angry with my dogs and with myself for not double checking the door. I didn't even want to post this but I can't lie or ignore the posts. I'm just so stinking mad right now. I've had chicks in this house off and on for 3 yrs and my dogs go in the spare room I raise them in all the time, never a problem, they do not mingle with my adult birds as I know they would try to catch them, they are very birdie, true to their bred, one is 11yrs old the other is 9. I'm still in shock by the whole thing.

I should say the dogs only went in with me, while I tended the birds, otherwise they had no access. I can't even look at either of them tonight, BAD DOGS!!
