Guess at sex of Cochin Chick? - 5 weeks old

    I don't see anything screaming rooster in it, but it's very young. I would post its pic again in about a month. By then, we should be able to identify its gender with more certainty. I hope for your sake that we're right and its a pullet. :eek:)

    Looks like a pullet for now, but it is too young to tell for sure.

    Agree it's too young to call pullet for sure. Post again in 3-4 weeks, a male should be apparent by then.

    Thanks everyone! I will post again in a few weeks....keeping my fingers crossed the whole time. We hatched two babies out of nine eggs. The other one was killed by another hen in the flock, so I've been keeping this baby and the momma separated, but in the coop, since the chick was a day old. I'm really hoping for a girl since this is my only chick!

    So here we are at 7 1/2 weeks. Any guesses? I know it's still too early to tell, but those wattles have me concerned.
