I've heard that you can sometimes tell if a Welsummer is male or female by the V-mark on its head.
These three Wellies are 1 week old today. Any guesses?

(Wait a sec. I think I had the wrong chick head here!) I'll get another picture of this one's head when my camera charges up...

Wow! I hatched 3 welsummer chicks and they do not look like yours.

Yours look like my EE chicks. Here is a picture of my 3 welsummer chicks and the EE for comparison. The EE is laying down and is the one who doesn't look like the other three. My eggs were dark. Or perhaps I do have 3 cockerals.

I have heard that eyeliner & distinct V does signify pullets. Good luck! Oh, my chicks are a week old exactly!

Looks like I'll be doing another brooder in a month when I can get some Welsummer pullets. Thanks for posting that.
