Guineas, are they really that useful at keeping snakes away?

We had our third dog snakebitten last night and I am at my wits' end. She was snakeproofed (apparently not well) and due to be rattlesnake vaccinated on Friday. I just don't know what else to do, they are everywhere out here and several people, horses, and cows have been bitten too:(

i have heard this before
last time we killed a snake we through it where the guineas travel they flogged it a couple of times and then figured it was dead
i would go with guineas or maybe lime(snakes hate lime)

My boss was raised in Wyoming and his mom raised Guineas. He said they were monstrous snake killers. They wouldn't let a snake get anywhere near the property. They are loud though - super-great watchdogs - just be prepared for the noise.

I'm worried that they might cause a few horse wrecks around the house, as we have several young horses.
