Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference between male and female?

Yep. Mainly the sounds they make are different. Males make this machine-gun staccato alarm call and females can also make that, but females make a two-syllable call that sounds like, "Come back! Come back!" and males don't do that. Also, the males have longer wattles usually and more upright helmets.

Thank you all for the good info now I think I know which is which. I have somewhat been talked into taking on more birds of all sorts the guineas where the hardest to figure out.
