Gurgling hen

Sorry if this is a repeat but I got confused trying to read all prior threads. One of our hens appears to be molting and is making a loud gurgling. Every once in a while, she stretches her neck and looks like she is trying to clear her throat. She is very inactive now and doesn't seem to be eating much. She stopped laying. She is about 1 1/2 years old.

Any ideas on what it is, if its contagious and treatable.

Respiratory diseases are contageous. Birds in molt stop laying as well as sick birds. Here's a link to respiratory diseases in poultry:

Take a look at Infectious Bronchitis, Infectious Coryza, Mycoplasma Gallisepticum. Keep in mind that symptoms vary with these diseases, mild to wild.
