Ha ha, I have chicken chickens!

We are having a very nice day today, and apparently the wild birds think it's spring! There were a bunch of bluejays up in an oak near where the chickens were out scratching, and the jays started yelling at the chickens. Man, you should have seen those chickens jump and run! Next thing I knew, they were all back in the coop peeking out the door.

There was a hawk circling overhead today, and all the rooster alerted on it, each time. They also alerted on the crows, but then relaxed right afterwards.

I have a bantam cochin roo who HATES blue jays! I've watched him chase one and challenge it when it landed on the ground. It was quite a game to the crow.

How old are your chickens? Is it the first time they've encountered blue jays??
