For years now I've put up with their crummy programming, more and more commercials.
Some of you may remember quite a few years ago, cable and satellite had no commercials, that's why we subscribed. I even used to have one of those space ship sized dishes in the yard.
    Well no more!
I'm tired of being talked to like a 5 year old.
I'm tired of commercials for every useless drug there is in the world, whose side effects are way worse then the problem.
I'm tired of the reality shows. Here's a red neck fishing, or one chasing a sasquatch, or panning gold, cutting down trees, working on cars, living in trailerparks, etc, etc, etc. There is no end to it.

I don't care about people's sexual lifestyles, why would I want to watch sitcoms about them?

The history channel has no history on it, discovery has maybe one show, and it's only on once a week.

I like NCIS, but still, the same old thing, a dead marine.

I'm tired of getting sucked into mystery shows where the mystery is never solved.

Or new shows that think 6 episodes is a season, and they don't start again for a year.

I'm tired of all the sex and violence. I don't need that carp invading my brain. I love guns, but take them off of TV, and there'd hardly be anything to watch at all.

So after dinner, the wife and I flip on the tube, and by default, we almost alwaysend up on the weather channel. I've now seen enough tornadoes and hurricanes to fill a museum. I don't need any more.

So I did it, I had it turned off, and will enjoy the extra $75 in my bank acct every month. Nothing that woman could say or offer would make me stay.
I will probably enjoy a more zenful life without the bombardment of negative info I have willingly invited into my living space.

[IMG]More power to you Joe. I don't watch TV at all but, every now and then (mostly then) stream something on Netflix. I listen to radio for weather report only. Sometimes I play old cd on the computer. Mostly I like silence., also think my own singing and humming are the perfect touch.

Sentiments agreed with - but missing out on live sport is a bit too much for me to bear. 17 bucks a month will get you all that - www.ntv.mx - you never know, the BBC stuff has no ads and it might get you feeling a bit more upbeat?

Sometimes I sing and hum, but mostly I talk to myself and enjoy saying strange things.
