Well, it had to be done, my son's favorite silkie roo had to be rehomed today He was too randy for my hens & pulled out a lot of their neck feathers & the head rooster wouldn't let the silkie eat. I picked him up today and felt nothing but a very pronounced breast bone, so I put him in a separate cage and he ate to his hearts content. I picked up the phone & found a home for him immediately, a home where he'll be the only rooster with another silkie hen. My son feels good that the roo won't be someone else's dinner & I felt good that someone else wanted him. My husband asked me to get two more hens to replace the silkie roo, so it looks like I'm getting more hens!
