Good news is, all of my existing chickens/chicks are still alive. Bad news is, when i had my incubators running with about 42 eggs, i had about 6 days left and we were having really bad storms here in Norcal, subsequently, the power went out for 7hrs overnight. Needless to say, not a single hatch. Everything had died. No Silkies or Wyandottes from the uncle, nor my store bought fertile eggs.

However, I am back up and running. I don't have as many eggs this time, but I am attempting to hatch Red Comet Hen x Svart Hona Roo eggs. Hopefully I have a new sex-link breed that can be stabilized. Started 6 eggs on the 16th and 8 more on the 19th. Everything looks good so far in the first 6 after candling. I took 6 Rock Island Brand store bought fertile eggs in my small dome incubator as of last night. In my approach this time, I candled the eggs before putting em in to ensure good quality eggs with yolks that weren't to dark and shells without cracks/fractures.

I just candled my eggs in my big incubator, out of the first 6 from 2/16, 3 have chicks inside 2/3rds the way growing and out of the other 8 from the 19th 4 have visible growth as well. Should I toss the others or give em a few extra days?

Woke up this morning to pips in 2 of the 3 remaining eggs. They hatched @1pm today. I had to open the Bator briefly to remove the chick born the previous morning. The 2 chicks that hatched had not fully inhaled the yolk/vein/albumen mix into their butts/vents.
It started pecking at the globulous mix, so had to take it out and place it in the brooder with my week old mix of chicks the wife bought at the tractor supply store. There are 2 Silkies chicks in there too that are about its size. All is well so far.
Waiting on one more egg from this hatch and 4 more from another I had to add to the same bator that were started 3 days later. Saturday will be day 25 for the first round and day 21 for the second.
The first chick came out completely black like dad, so did the 2nd. But the 3rd came out with a yellow comb. Mom is a sexlink, mb that means they will be similar to a black sexlink? I don't know, but its fun testing a hypothesis
