Hi there! I'm new to the chicken world and just purchased three "silkie" chickens-two hens and one rooster. I'm pretty confident the man lied to me but I have no intention of g[IMG][/IMG]etting rid of them. I just want to know what kind they are! The rooster (alone in the pic) has about three extra toes on each foot as well, does this mean he's inbred?

They are silkies. The silkied feathering gene is recessive so if they were a silkie/non-silkie mix they wouldn't have silkied feathering. They look like they may be hatchery quality silkies though, which are often bigger and less silkie-like than breeder quality silkies. But I'm not a silkie expert. (wow, I just said the word silkie about 8, now 9 times lol)

Here's a silkie thread you could post in to see what the experts say

Oh and not sure about the rooster with tons of toes, I had one silkie hen with 6 toes but still not sure what caused that (they are supposed to have 5 toes)
