    cheers all:
24 days ago I received 16 assorted eggs from halo in florida. Well here is the report. 5/5 EEs hatch woohoo [IMG] , 5/5 welsummers [IMG] sadly one had a leg deformity and could not stand., 0/6 of rock mix (upon eggtopsy 5 were unfertilized (no bulleyes) and one inmature embryo.
So 9 living healthy chickies:woot and in the brooder.[IMG]
over 50% on 1st attempt. oh yeah I used hovabator 1620 99.5-101 degrees at RH 35-45% 1st 18 days then stopped turning them place in carton and raised RH to 65%. All that I learned here!![IMG]

That's really good. Were these shipped eggs? If so that's pretty amazing.

When calculating hatching ratios you usually don't count infertile eggs, clears (eggs that fail to do anything), or eggs that quit early from known damage that happened before setting. These aren't things you could change unless your storing eggs improperly so shouldn't be factored into your hatch rate. For example I set 30 eggs from my coop in the middle of winter when they first start laying. I hatched 19. Now saying I got 63% is not a great hatch. If I set all fertile good eggs and only hatched 63% I'd be wondering what I did wrong. If we take into account though that 4 turned out not to be fertile and 6 were damaged by the cold weather causing them to quit before the end of the first week it's now a great hatch. I hatched 95% of viable eggs. Nothing I could do about the rest. That shows me I did nothing wrong.
