Hamburgs, Campines or Groninger?

I'm in love with pencilled, barred, mottled and spangled colouring. Especially the contrast with gold/silver and black.

I've been looking at these Dutch breeds and they are just beautiful

Does anyone keep these and can tell me what they are like? Character, eggs, ability to get on with other breeds, flightiness etc.

I have a mixed flock of various bantam breeds in my garden and have a roofed run, netted run and free range area for them. It isn't huge though. I have some small fruit trees, and neighbours each side of the fence. I would look to hatch the bantam size versions.

i had hamburgs and spitzhauben (spangled colors). hamburgs were flighty and got bullied by other breeds. spitzhaubens a little tamer. personalitywise, i think they are a lot like other small european breeds, like leghorns and such.

yes, they were aggressive.... to earthworms and bugs!! great foragers. Not aggressive to other chickens at all.

I keep Campines. They are super flighty & can be real screamers. Lovely when they are tamed but that requires a lot of work & a lot of time. They are real clowns & my favourites.

Have you looked into Appenzeller Spitzhaubens yet? There is also a bantam variety available.
