This guy is my favorite bird on the farm. His dad was terrible but was the best colored male I had, he got one season and then his son Big Red took over. Red has never looked at me crooked, he comes when he's called, he displays for me, he'll come within arms reach and circle around, then glide away towards his ladies. If he's bickering with the Narragansett tom through the fence, I can walk right up to him, pick him up and carry him off. He'll let me pet him when he's on the roost. He's a cool bird. Normally, boys get sold at 2 to make way for the next. I like Red so much that I'm adding another pen, retaining a son and some girls and then swapping so that Red gets the younger girls and his son gets the older hens, who are 2 and 3 years old. Right now they're all penned together and Red was cool with me adding the younger group. Till breeding season anyways, pretty sure he won't tolerate being penned with another male after about March.
