What do you do with the dirty wood shavings you clean out of the coop? Are they good fertilizer? Mine have DE in them..

I'm not answerin' until you say you're sorry for posting a legitimate, well-written question with a misleading Thread title! Say you're sorry!

    Aww...c'mon Hooligan - I'm sure she's sorry [IMG]
    Besides, everyone knows its TGI-Almost-F!!!!

I'd say you can compost the shavings, but that's just my experience with those from horse stalls. Consisting of manure, pine shavings and uneaten hay.
Over the Winter it breaks down into gorgeous loam full of earthworms.
Since I feed sunflower seeds to the horses I sometimes get vlounteer sunflowers in my manure pile too.
Makes it look like Provence [IMG]

And the answer to Swbuda's question is also compost! The DE will help kill bugs- the downside is that it will also kill the beneficial bugs. It's a question of balance. I sometimes use them as smelly mulch for the ornamentals. Cover it with the better stuff!
