  1. Thanks for the skunk spray smell rescue! We love our wildlife here in Connecticut and nuture many varieties of them, but it is still bad when one of the skunks has its "little bad moment" at 2 a.m. and wakes the household. So it was very very nice to find this site and so many great ideas that help, that allow us all to get back to sleep. I love chickens and think them beautiful and do some art with them on occasion and this egg art got to the White House in 2007

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join our flock. I evidently missed the skunk spray episode, but I'm glad it is no longer a problem. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Do you have any chickens?

Ugh skunks - a friend in Maine has had a lot of trouble with skunks releasing their "endorphins" so to speak. Hopefully her ordeal with all of them is past history. I hope yours is also.

Skunks are frequent egg eaters and will kill chickens also. They also can carry rabies.

  7. No , I do not have chickens at this time. My gramps on Dad's side, kept chickens for years and I'd feed them and have fun talking to them on visits - they like little girls. He called my Father the "Banty Rooster" when he was a boy for his way with words and deeds in a scrap. When I was 10, a customer of my Dad's paid him with Chickens and Mother and I prepped and froze them, and I learned how eggs are made and the mystery of eggshell was solved.
