Has anybody crossed a BCM rooster over a RIR hen?

Wondering what they may look like and how dark the eggs may be. Anyone have pics they can post or any info? Thanks!

They should look mostly like the Black Copper Marans, with some red on the belly and in the wings, from my understanding. There is a photo of a week-old chick here and another of them at three-weeks a few posts later. They are gorgeous. Also, the eggs should be a medium brown in color, but large sized eggs.

Awesome! Thanks for the link, thos are good looking chicks. I really like the BCM x Buff mix. I actually have 1 BCM x Buff egg under my hen right now. The others r all BCM x RIR. cant wait till the hatch!

Yeah, from the looks of it, that is another mix that I would love to have. You have to post photos as they get older!

I sure will post pics. I didn't really plan to hatch these. I have some reds that I suspect have some game in em. They r a little smaller than pure reds but look like reds. I got em from a guy as grown birds and 1 went broody on me. I've had them since January and keep my BCM rooster with em so when I noticed she was broody I figured what the heck I'll see what comes of the mix. Hope to have some fairly dark eggs and regular layers (the red x games mixes lay great), and possibly some broodiness!

Haven't done that cross but have a nice blue maran roo in with 7 RIR hens right now... a friend did a cross with a blue andalusion roo and a RIR hen. Beautiful birds but not a typical build and the combs came out kinda big. Colorwise they are awsome.... all blue bird with deep red breast and a lil in the hackle... I'm tryin it with the marans to keep the color but end up with a heavy bird... can't wait
